I deleted the above post because I assumed it was spam about Gucci handbags. Now I realize that this may have been hasty. Perhaps the poster was making a comparison between blind American consumerist greed (the desire for many expensive handbags) while tying this desire to Italy, the land of both Gucci and the heart of the Roman Empire. Obviously they mean to point out that acquiring more territory than one can manage, whether on a country-wide scale or a personal one, can lead to downfall.
If you're good at something, never do it for free.
"Why a writing blog, Steve?" "It's not a writing blog." "But you're a writer." "When a chef pours himself a bowl of cereal, is he cheffing? This isn't for real. It's a place to play. A play blog." "What kind of writer uses the word 'cheffing'? "The kind that has a play blog."
