Five for Deliquency / In the D.C. Metro
His shirt displayed words.
Big letters: "Free hugs" it read.
On both front and back.
I followed this kid
up the old escalator.
I climbed to his step.
"How much are hugs, man?"
"Huh?" He blinked, confused. Then, snap!
"Oh! They're free! All right!"
We hugged each other,
less awkwardly than you'd think.
Temporary friends.
(This moment of life
Is proudly brought to you by
Cotton-poly blend.)

Curtain

Marie picked up the flowers.
It was her last show.
